| Regulation Bend in Epee Blades I'm trying to find on the USFA site what the maximum bend in an Epee blade can be. Can anybody give me that info, or let me know where it is listed?
Thanks! |

| Thanks. That gives the flexibility minimum and maximums however. I am looking for the new(er) regulations about how much actual bend a blade can have coming to the strip. (You know, after you've run it under your foot a couple of times.) I thought it was something like 1cm for epee, 2cm for foil, and 4cm for sabre as measured by laying the weapon on a level surface. It is on the sheet of paper the USFA sends out along with NAC registration that describe new rules for the season (the stuff about falling, etc.), and but I can't find it online anywhere. |

| Is this what you're looking for? Quote:
For foil and epee, the total curvature of the blade is measured
with the blade laid on a flat surface, with the point and base of
the forte touching the surface. Epees must not rise more than
1 cm above the surface, while foils are allowed 2 cm. If the
objective is to angle the point to hit oblique surfaces better,
this is a significant amount of curvature. If the objective is
to "hook" the blade around blocking parries or body parts,
however, these limits are fairly restrictive.

m. 16 The blade, which is triangular in section without cutting edges, is made of steel and must comply with the safety standards described in Annexe A to the Rules. It should be as straight as possible and mounted with the groove uppermost. Any curve of the blade must be uniform and the maximum bend must in any case be less than 1 cm; it is only permitted in the vertical plane and must be near the center of the blade. | Italics are mine.
Plus, you now must have your blade with the proper bend when you come en guard. If it isn't, technically, you should receive a yellow card immediately.

| Much thanks. I must have glossed that part, and only saw the flexibility section. |
