Array significant dates in fencing OK you history buffs out there - anyone have any significant dates in fencing (like, first US Olympic medal, last death by sword in a duel, etc.)? -

Array What about the date when the Neanderthals ‘Officially’ started electric fencing for the first time and came into the 20th Century in 1989.
Hey, I heard the ‘Missing Link’ t-shirt was a favorite among Sabre fencers. A Great Britain Armorer, when he saw the ‘Missing Link’ t-shirt said they would have put the Sabreist lower in the evolutionary chain.
The trouble is they didn’t take my suggestion for Electric Sabre, which was connecting them up directly to 220 Volts. But Dan said they considered it, but the trouble is the Sabreist might start liking it and they didn’t want to do anything the Sabreist would like. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com

And yes, if you did connect us up directly to 220 volts, we would start liking it. Good call. We thrive for pain. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Array Only 220 volts?
I usuallly practice with my friends with the voltage at LEAST at 420. -

Array Of course, its more fun when you fence in shorts and a T-shirt, and have the sabres hooked up to the 420 volts. Then you attach a grounding wire to your skin.
More delightfulness that way. -

Array I was seeing the post on U.S. International Epee Champions and I started doing some research. 1904 is a significant date.
It is the year which one country swept the Gold individual medals at the Olympics. I don't think that will ever happen again. That was Cuba.
They shared the only Team Gold medal. The U.S. and Cuba provided members for a combined Gold medal team. I don't think that will happen again in the near future, with the relationship between these 2 countries. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com

Array Is it bad that for the first several milliseconds after I read the thread title, I thought it meant "date" as in "dinner, a movie, and then maybe coffee at your place afterwards"??? -
