In case anyone is interested, I decided to post another message
about my Klingenthal foil. There are pics of it in the Photos
section. I used a leather-care cream on the cord-wrapping and
3-in-1 oil and fine-grit sandpaper to clean the metal parts. I
found that it was made between 1840 and 1925-much older than
I thought.
