Array computergames? Does anyone know of any computergames that involve the history of the 18th and 19th centuries.. Maybe the napoleonic wars or something?? A game that involves duelling would also be cool

Array There's a game called Napoleon, but there's no duels that I'm aware of. One of the Mario Party games also has some sword fighting game, but it wasn't very good. "Steady as a mountain, attack like fire, still as a wood, swift as the wind. In heaven and earth I alone am to be revered." -

-Isaiah Actually, a great number of people into that period of history play wargames (computer and otherwise).
There are any number of computer wargames of that period. For the period, the vast majority cover either Napoleonic Wars or the American Civil War.
There are a few other periods covered (a couple revolutionary war, one or two Frederick the Great, and at least one survey game of 1850-1905 warfare, 3 or 4 Age of Sail era naval games), but mostly those two periods. There are also a couple of games that are broader strategy games with a military component thrown in covering that era.
The vast majority are turn-based strategy games, with a couple of "real-time" strategy thrown in. No "FPS-style games, or games with dueling that I'm aware of.

Array I was once addicted to a game called Fields of Glory. It covered the Napoleonic Wars and, more specifically, the Waterloo campaign. It had a a nice point and click interface and it was almost idiot proof -- no massive manuals required.
I think there was a game called Waterloo way back in the late 80s/early 0s but it's hard to find and the graphics sucked. I think it was published by Avalon Hill after one of their board games.
As for FPS-type sword games, uhhhh....... no. I haven't encountered any. Wait -- there IS one but it's for the Playstation and it only covers Japanese swordplay. It places you in the shoes of a Japanese samurai. Nice but I can't remember the name of the game.......... -

Array Pirates of the Caribiean is a good game with a lot of fencing style sword play and fits roughly into that era. it is actually the third game in its line. They are produced by Bethesda Software. For more games during the Napolean era check the bargin bin at the coputer store often theses games don't get a lot of hype so they get moved off the prime shelf space quickly. -

Array And then there's always "Pirates!" "Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in the ancient Greek republics: freedom for the slave-owners." - V.I. Lenin, The State and Revolution, 1965
