Other 3 sports included in Mod. Olympics besides fencing?

I have read the statement that fencing is one of four sports included in the Modern Olympics since the start, 1896. Does anyone know what the other 3 sports are?

Fencing
Aquatics (Swimming, Synchro. Swim., Diving, Water Polo)
Athletics (Track and Field)
Gymnastics
Cycling

Every other sport has missed at least one of the modern Olympic Games. Rowing comes close, having been on the program of every Games, but in 1896 it was cancelled due to inclement weather (rough seas). In this context you look at sports, not events.

Notice that I listed 5 sports, not the 4 that is the commonly cited number. All five of the above sports have been contested at every Olympic Games according to http://www.olympic.org

Thanks, I always felt left hanging by the unanswered question, what were the others.

Does that 5 change any if we divide the nonsimilar "acquatics" category into the similar sports that compose it?

No, swimming has been in every modern olympics.

Cycling or gymnastics is the closest that you'll get. In one of the Olympics (forget which, something like 1912 or 1928) there was only road cycling rather than track racing. It's still considered a cycling event, and it's possible that every games had a road event (that was unclear from the page).

Gymnastics the events were extremely eclectic in the early games (rope climbing, etc.) and not standardized on what we consider the normal events until the 1924 games (if then, but I think that's when it basically got to be similar to what we have now, at least for men). Note that gymnastics should also have had a notation that it includes artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline (similar to the note that I included for aquatics). The website did explicitly state that gymnastics had been contested in every games however....

Personally I think that rowing should be considered included in every games. It was on the program in 1896, merely not contested.

Swimming has not been in every olympic.

On the website:
http://www.kiat.net/olympics/sports/index.html

You can check the golds given for every event and who received them. Aquatics can technically be considered in every olympic only because Water Polo is aquatic. Swimming was eliminated in 1900.

So the official list (and this list is by elimination according to the golds given) of events stands as:

Athletics
Cycling
Fencing
Gymnastics.
