Ok I'm a good-looking male fencer looking for a good-looking female fencer so maybe we can fencer each other. But only if your as good as me, if not, then it will be boring and not last long.
How's about offering some lessons to good looking English girls. Then you'll have a pool from which to pick!! You'll need to train them up to your level, of course.
I myself had a very nice relationship with the guy who taught the fencing elective at my college (approximately 1 century ago). He fenced for the "major university" in town. Who says fencing isn't sexy? Not me!

Unfortunately my female non-fencing friends seem to think that the jacket/knickers combination just doesn't cut it!
I personally think all women who fence are amazing... And even better than that, of the couple of dozen or so at my Salle, every single one of them are great! I mean, not just as fencer's, but as people...
I think there is strong connection between men and women who fence, and this is fostered by the fact that the sport is very unique and off the mainstream in the US... you meet another fencer Male or Female and there is just an instant bond of familiarity... VERY UNLIKE things like Golf, Tennis, Volleyball, track and Field etc...
They say that very good fencers have "attitudes" that fit their competitive spirit, but I haven't seen it yet... Maybe its just my Club... Luckily

But seriously I have noticed something. Most of the time at my club when we hold a beginning fencing class there are usually more women than men, but then when you look at the general population of the club there are very few women (basically, me and about four others, one of whom doesn't show up very often anymore because she has a baby, and a husband who is still in school). The numbers are a bit more even with the juniors. Still, I just wonder why don't women stick with fencing? Is it because traditionally when someone has to stay home with the kids the women get nominated, or are we really that brutal--I have no problem with it, but then I've always been a tom-boy. Furthermore, what can we do to make the sport more attractive or friendly to women, if anything? Just wondering?
And to those who criticise the appearance of female fencers let's be honest, while there are some who are truly gorgeous, and most are at least okay, there are some pretty frightening male specimens out there too.

Okay, first of all this is one of the funniest posts I have ever seen!
Secondly, although very few girls do this sport you find that the ones that do are the coolest. After all they had the comon sense to fence instead of doing other sports!
I'll admit, I think that lames must be the sexiest article of clothing ever invented. While I used to be perfectly happy ogling all foilists and male sabre fencers, one of the happiest days of my life was when I first saw a female sabre fencer wearing a real women's sabre lame. Getting the women sabre lames that nip in below he bust and generally fit was a very important step towards having more sexy female fencers!
(blushes) (Hopes that her boyfriend doesn't read this one and find out what she's REALLY thinking about at meets!)
Hmm, while we're on the subject I'm in the market for dating too, if there are any Michigan ladies reading the thread. I took 3rd last valentines tourney also...
Oh, I had to get done laughing before I could write this. Too funny!
Seriously, I've met a lot of female fencers (because I team event mostly, not because our club had a lot of them) but in general? They're fun! They're great fun to be around. And I agree that there's something between fencers that is just more "right" than fencer + nonfencer most of the time. Fencers understand what makes eachother tick, and a lot of people just dont understand the obsession.
And I've said it before, but not here. Female fencers were not made by God to be eye candy for men. They were made to fence. I don't care if she's the "ugliest woman alive", if she can fence, thats what counts. I fence not because I think "gee, these tight white knickers sure are sexy" but becaue I think "hey, I get to stab you, and this is great."
But men in foil lamee's... some of the epeeist... not bad. A few sabre fencers... hey, I've met a lot of guys that are great to hang around with... wait, fun people... thats just typical of fencers. Well, the ones that don't have all the company they need in their HUGE egos!
