Of sheer stupidity..., Y'know the clips on the back of the jacket, well he decided that to be cool he was going to put blades thru those holes... and he walked around the whole day with either one or two blades hanging from his jacket.
I'm impressed he could keep himself from tripping over.

I once saw a communist fencer on the boards here...
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Oh boy, a one line flame.

Just move to the thread on Iraq and Vietnam if you want to discuss my political orientation, if not, for the sake of the board, shut up.

We saw his blade, bellguard, pad, everything just fall to the ground, and he was left holding a sabre grip. I have no idea how it happened or what brand of equipment he was using, but everyone there paused for a moment to process what had just happened, then burst out laughing.
I've seen this happen twice and both times they were for parrying. It was so funny! MUHAHAHAHA!

this actually happened to me yesterday at Junior Olympic Qualifiers.

Simple action, but results is a bit humurous. I was retreating downt he strip. In the one meter area I took the blade hit my opnonent, and on my last step back my foot landed off the strip.....onto a T-SHirt. (Behind the strip there is about half a meter of floor then a wall) My back foot continued to slide on the shirt and went right through the wall(made of drywall). It went through so easily I didn't even realize it until someone pointed it out to me while walking back to the en guard line.

    Alright, here's another one:

I was judging an early round in foil DE's, and both fencers had been making charging attacks at each other (anyone watching would agree in not referring to them as fleches). At one point, as soon as I said "fence", both of them dashed at the same time, I called halt when their feet crossed and since the fencer to my right turned a good deal and both fell backwards, I gave them each a yellow card for corps-a-corps (both had forward movement at the time). the fencer to my right turned to me and politely stated "Sir, I do not believe there was an actual collision, I just went like this." and demonstrated her actions right before I called halt. Her opponent agreed, and so I then guessed maybe they had just fallen backwards in an attempt to avoid a collision. My reply? "Well, my apologies. You still get a yellow card for turning your back on your opponent." She stared for a moment then grinned, and the match continued with a tad more caution.
