I agree, queen sacrifice is very impressive, it means you really know the game and the board. I have only played at full concentration maybe twice, the rest of the time, just moving the peices around. When the queen goes off the board, then your opponent feels as though the game is theirs, but then, you see your two rooks and several other things and feel okay, this is it, and so forth. The point thing never bothered me until I learned that if you don't pay attention to your points your opponent, who does, will win. It's pretty much like fencing, watch your points but don't obsess about it.

My most favorite moves in chess: the pin. A pin in chess is like opening up a can and also, it reminds me of finding the opening in a good bout of foil with a skilled opponent.

My next favorite move in chess: is the removal of a peice [voila] only to reveal a file, a delicious file in which nothing exists but the empty space with which your partner can do nothing but gaze at, because the fact is, he is trapped. [more evil laughter]

Well men, I'm off, to pick up my meager wages from the shop that I worked for for 3.5 weeks.

    It wasn't the outfit!!!

Talking about that: they caught a guy in texas for capital crimes, he has the most unbelieveable mo, he cross dressed as a deaf/mute/female and ran from new york to galviston texas, committed three capital offences, bribed a judge and got off. What do you think about that. The guy was totally psychotic.

Ah... Myself, I've once designed one, but it's both historical and nowadays fencing... Shields, swords, sabers, epées, etc.

I'm surprised Inquartata didn't suggest fencers with coloured lames for the position of pawn.

There's another reason why I like chess: all the pieces are either ALL BLACK or ALL WHITE!

I've come to the point where I'm so used to playing black (no, just because it happens to be my favorite lack-of-all-color doesn't mean I'm gothic, evil, or depressed, it's just that cool), that I can't play white any more. Every turn, half the time is spent coming up with strategies for black, before I remember which side I'm on.

I have a bit of an underdog complex (no, that isn't a real psychological term), so I'm also used to picking black. They don't get to move first, so they /must/ be in the right.

    What about Chinese chess?

    Chinese chess doesn't use marbles.

Thanks: I went mad for a short while. Well, why don't we all play a game of chess, but I only know the old notations.

    On the Origional Question
It would be necessary to include more than just the fencing weapons so,
    Pawns- Daggers or spears- cheap
    Rooks- epee
    Knights- Saber (Caverly Origins)
    Bishop - Rapier (noblemens sword?)
King and Queen- mail and female foilists (foil is, after all, the best weapon)
I fence foil, by the way
