| Have a buddy with you who knows what he/ she is doing. Could be a coach, but usually a friend. (coaches usually have a lot to deal with)

| Ugh.
I was 2-2 in the pool, and was eliminated due to trickery in the 2nd round. There were about 11 people.
In my final match, it was 10-3, the other guy. I was wondering what the hell was going on. I ask the director to test(thats another problem, we were directing each other). His right sleeve was dead. His left sleeve was dead. I saw that they were a different material. It looked like a foil lame with arms added on
He was lefty so many of my attacks were on the arm. |

| Easiest way to tell if it was a foil lame` with arms added post-production, is if his crotch was covered in lame` material. Foil lame`.
I was fencing some spaz in a team tournament last year, and we almost lost because I dropped like 3 touches to this guy before I realized his arms were dead, and big spots on his chest. I had to crush their anchor something like 12 to 4 to win it 45-44.
After realizing all of those dead spots, the director should at least have annuled the last touch awarded. Did he?

| I've seen one of those lames---I think they are the "budget" model from a certain equipment vendor, not a homemade special... |
