Chinese Team Finishes Top in Asian Fencing Championships
China closed their account at the Asian Fencing Championships by picking up another two golds in the men's foil and women's epee team events in Bangkok on August 9.
China topped the standings with a total of eight golds among 15 participating teams.
In the men's foil team semi-finals earlier Thursday, China edged China's Hong Kong 45-23 while South Korea downed Japan 45-34.
The Chinese fencers defeated the South Koreans 45-36 in the final to win the team title.
The Philippines sounded a warning signal to their Southeast Asian Games rivals Thailand, by defeating them 45-31 in the first round of the men's foil team event.
I wonder what they're doing in HK - my former homeland - that they came 3rd in 2 event. For a "city state" of 6 million people that's quite an achievement.

Array Is that a misprint, or do some people consider a 45-23 drubbing and "edging"?
Just curious. -

Array Eric,
It's a matter of 'face'.
We in European society'd call it a drubbing, but in an Asian society you won't call it a drubbing, since that'd make the loser lose too much face, hence the softer 'edged'. Afterall, China - People's Daily IS the CPC [Communist party of China] official party mouth-piece afterall - wanted to keep the Hong Kongites happy...
If HK's too upset Taiwan may not want to "return to the bosom of the Motherland". Then there'd have to be an armed take-over.

PK Attempts, there might be, but won't be no take-over.
Commies from the mainland couldn't do it in the past 40 years, still can't do it now. Maybe, perhaps, likely, possibly, probably, potentially. Similar Threads -
