Array Who's your favorite Comedian and Why? This could be interesting. Who's your favorite comedian and why
do you consider the comedian good. Its a given of course that you consider
him/her funny. Whats their style? arrogant, dry, cocky, meek etc. -

Array hey guys I know we have comedy lovers. Ive viewed the joke thread.
Mine is Eddie Murphy.
next would be Dennis Miller
then George Carlin(perfer the cleaned up versions of Carlins humor)
I like Eddie because he seems to have a very high energy level
and is happy most all the time. yea....happy humor
I like Dennis Miller because he does a great job of showing a realistic, cold, dark side of mans existence but manages to put it
together well(brilliantly at times). He portrays a bit of mans darker
side that few will admit exists .I just love his sarcasm......yea.....dark humor
I like George Carlin because he can take the most simple thing
and with that deadpan presentation make it halarious.
ok, your turn

Array Chris rock's cultural observationary..tory? humor is great to listen to.
I like george carlin because he makes me laugh and for other reasons I can't explain.
Robert schimmel is really funny too, the way he twists things to make them funny. "Their interpretation is, however, refuted most elegantly by your system of radioactive atom + amplifier + charge of gun powder + cat in a box"
-Albert Einstein, in a letter to Erwin Schrödinger -
Curmudgeon Emeritus
Array Larry Miller.
Also like Dennis Miller and Bill Maher, both less than I used to ( I think they're losing their edges, the former as he skews right, the latter the more he skews left ).
Richard Pryor, before he blew himself up freebasing. -

Array Bill Cosby hands down. He is one of the Gods of comedy. That man never ever fails to make me laugh!

Array Bill Cosby he just knows human nature so well.
Robin Williams-just naturally hilarious. He can't seem to turn it off, which must be interesting to say the least for his near and dear.
I'd like George Carlin a lot more if he was cleaner, but his observations on human nature are so true too. For instance the whole "on the plane" thing ( you get on the plane if you want, but I'm getting inside the plane. . .) and also the difference between stuff and junk (your junk is stuff, other people's stuff is junk).
I used to like Judy Tenuda alot, but I haven't heard of her lately. Also Lily Tomlin and Rita Rudner. One cat leads to another--Ernest Hemingway.

Array I'd have to say it would be any of the guys on Who's Line is it Anyway. I LOVE improv. It's hard (been doing it myself since May). But those guys are able to come up with something fresh & hysterically funny every time.
Know that Superheroes game they play? When you're the one up there, it's not so easy! Ack! "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

He's great. -

Array That's Ryan Stiles. He's been on it since it was on in England (along with Colin Mochrie...probably spelled that wrong). Those two are my favorites, along with Wayne Brady. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Okay, then you try what they do. Come to Michigan or go to Steamboat Springs, CO to try your hand at improv, since you're such a...shall we say "expert"?
No need to knock others' favorites when they differ from your own. They're ALL pretty darn talented. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Mark Twain - He invented stand up comedy.
Jonathan Winters - A true original. Robin Williams should give 10% of his earnings to Winters. -

arcon The guy your looking for is Robert Klien. Would play blues harmonica while tapping his foot. His foot tapping would get out of control and in a singing voice he would exclaim,
"I can't stop my leg!"
"I can't stop my leg, now,
Oh, I can't stop my leg,
My leg stopped."
------generous comedic pause-------------
"THERE IT GOES AGAIN!"
"There it goes again now,
I can't stop my leg!"
Personally I enjoy the biting social commentary that comedian Bill Hicks used to do.
"They turned the book depository into a museum. Its the 'Assassination museum' and they have the room set up just like it was on that day. And its exactly like it was then, its perfectly accurate.................Cause Oswald's not in it." Never *ever* take anyone for granted. Sure, you might have beaten them last time, but maybe, just maybe, they've been practicing; -

Array way back I could never really appreciate the humor and antics of Jerry Lewis
I saw h im on some film specials a few years back. He fits in the same
group Id put Steve Martin in. I guess i consider them both too
silly.
I guess if you like the three stooges youd like these guys(jerry L.
and S. Martin.
Robin Williams seemed the best for pulling off the silly routines.
In the old days it would have to be Red Skelton(in my opinion). -

Array Dennis Miller. He's Irreverant, and likes to salt his puns with the best of victorian literature! I love it!
