Now that we have negative role-models like other sports, maybe fencing will be taken more seriously...

    It made Fark.com (www.fark.com).

I wonder if Mrs. Williams wants to read that little James is out getting blitzed, with other under-age drinkers.

Perhaps Luther wanted to be World Team member from Chile (the guy who died in Cuba during the World Championships).

Not a good thing to emulate, of course.

    A little compassion

This was an accident. Of course the accident could have been avoided, as most can, and he was obviously drunk as a skunk (and I'm sure that no other fencer has ever been drunk).
    So here it goes:
It's a darn shame, he was a fine fencer.
I hope he recovers, and will be able to fence as well again.
And I sure hope it never happens to anyone else.

This is an almost identical incident that happened several years ago in the midwest - he won't be the same that's for sure, probably with a head injury like that.

In the meantime, the accuracy of the first report is almost as good as his drinking problem the 4th floor is very different from the 11th floor.

The octopus was a symbol of the Early Roman Empire.

Epee is a weapon of deceit and guile. You tend to take your time and counter-attack. You can touch your opponent anywhere at any time.

Yes it does rather suck for Luther, compounded by the fact that he was taking this year off from school to try to make the olympic team. Looks like that wont be happening in 04 at least.
