| SABRE Training CD ROM Hi All!
Who owned a Sabre Fencing CD ROM by Tyshler Fencing School?
Is it for beginners?
I’m not a beginner. Could I benefit from it?
Thanks.
Greg
P.S. Maybe some one want to sell used one? |

| Greg99,
I'm sorry to say that I bought that CD a while back before asking anyone. I didn't find it useful at all. It was somewhat amusing in the opening scenes, though. I gave it to my coach as a joke. If he hasn't thrown it away, I'll see if I can get it back and send it to you. I'll ask tonight. |

| I've got the VHS version. I thought it was a good introduction to the Hungarian/Russian school of sabre. The quality of the recording is unfortunately pretty bad. The footwork of the student is exceptional, and the progression of the lesson is very typical--particularly the rapid introduction of alternative actions.
Cheers, MR

How about the one that Nazlymov did a few years back before the FIE banned the passe avant...
I thought that's pretty good...

| On the Tyshler CD rom. I thought it was okay. The quality of the video was poor, but you could see what was going on alright. I found it to be more of a sampling or introduction than something heavy.
The Nazlimov video, if it's the one where he is giving a lesson to Sergei Mindergozov, I know that they have that video at the OTC library. If you know anyone who is headed there ask them to make you a copy. It's nearly identical to how I was coached saber, (minus the fleche), so I am probably bias about the content. I do think it's rather excellent for such a short presentation (28 minutes). I actually think that the opening 5 minutes of footwork are useful to all 3 weapons & used to show it to my College PE students (who were learning foil).
