Baroque Weekend
November 15 - 16, 2003
The Association for Historical Fencing is pleased to announce a Baroque
weekend of small sword and dance. Baroque dancer and choreographer Carlos
Fittante will join us for this special event.
The weekend will begin with a four hour seminar on Saturday intended for
the serious student of small sword. Maestro Jeannette Acosta-Martinez will
teach a very comprehensive class on the 18th century French school of small
sword. The seminar will be followed by a 2 hour small sword class open to
the general public. The purpose of this class is to introduce the general
public to the elegance of 18th century fencing by providing the opportunity
for all who are interested to experience this art. This class will be
immediately followed by a 2 hour dance class introducing the graceful
refinement that is the minuet.
On Sunday we will host a Baroque Salon especially designed to provide a
glimpse into various aspects of 18th century society. The Salon will
feature small sword demonstrations, card games, food, dance and a special
solo dance by Carlos Fittante.
