Array can you get points from... can you get point on the USFA rolling board from a non-USFA tourny? Fencing will always be a "for love of the game" sport.

Array Nope. In fact, you can't get 'em from most USFA tournaments. Only the National Y-14, Cadet, Junior, and Div I events are point events.
In a completely unrelated question -- are you guys from Buffalo going to field a team for the Binghamton team competition on Nov 2? It's non-USFA, and team events are the best way to introduce new fencers to competition.

Array Actually you can. But the non-usfa tournaments that you can get points at are World Cups, and Satalite Tournaments (Equivelent to another countrie's NAC). You will get points by placing at them. Last season I know of at least one fencer who ONLY had points from international competitions. (There is currently no one with points only from fencing abroad). -

Array Actually any open competition in europe counts for points on the senior points list. Doesn't need to be a world cup or satellite world cup event. Uses the same strength factor as world cup competitions, so unless there are good people (ie top 100 in the FIE standings) or tons of people (or, ideally, both), not many points are available. But in theory if you went to some little dinky 20 person open in, say, Malta and won, you'd pick up 20 national points. They'd be type I points (ie your best 2 results count towards your total) and you're not officially on the list unless you have > 200 points, so 20 isn't likely to help you significantly, but you would have them and the USFA website would list that fact (for a year, until last June, I was listed as having 27.9xx points from a competition in England). Go to bigger events (French or German circuit events) and you can pick up more points than are available in NAC events. Of course they're also harder than NAC events.... :)

Originally posted by AaronK (There is currently no one with points only from fencing abroad). Au contraire mon frere! Sorry, I love that phrase, but if you look at the senior men's epee standings you will notice that there is at least one person with points from only international competitions (something to be said for choking at domestic ones, oh well).
Sorry, couldn't help but point it out
