| I know that Ann Marsh won women's foil (and I think men's foil), with Julie Földi coming in 2nd. In women's saber Carly Wells got 1st and Mai Vu finished 2nd (I think).

| Wow, Julie came second? What was the result in the final?
I know her since my first day fencing. She's from Hungary, and she was in our club, at my trainer.

| Ann Marsh defeats Mike Cho 15-3 in the final of men's Foil
Cho had beaten Peter Habala in the semi, Marsh had beaten Matt Cameron and then Justin Purcell.
Men's epee I had to leave before the semi's were over. I know Ward Ruprecht beat Rob Bralow to make the semi's, and that Darrell Eldridge lost in the 8 to George Blackburn IV, and that a canadian I haven't seen before was in the 4.
Men's sabre pools had just ended when I had to go, I'm betting Mike Momtselidze was going to win it though, I don't recall seeing another sabre fencer there of his quality today...no offence to anybody, and perhaps I missed somebody when I looked around. Sam Kragh Vs Momtselidze in the final will be my guess.
The women's events were all later in the day this weekend, didn't really catch any of them. |

| Momtselidze did indeed win men's sabre. Vongries second, I think. Kragh (I think) and P. Truszkowski were third.

| I don't know if she wants to, but if she does she sure is putting herself into the game kind of late. I don't think she has enough time to get herself in a position to qualify for the olympics, even if she wins everything left before the regional qualifiers.

| ann marsh has a great hand. when i watched her fence foil, albeit briefly, it seemed like her defense was inpenetrable, however, her footwork was kind of bad. Nevertheless, i liked seeing her fence.

My first time at this event and the facility used at Northwestern Univ. was very nice indeed. Also was organized well that bouts and DEs seemed to flow well.
Mark it for your calendar next year.

Is there a "Team" element at the Remenyik?
If there is I would say that RFC fencers seem to have it sewed up in foil.

Mark it for your calendar next year. | The facility was far superior to Patten gym-- 15 strips and plenty of space, as opposed to just 10 strips and having to trip over everyone's gear crammed against the walls. Hopefully we all left it clean enough that they'll consider letting Laurie use it in the future. MF wasn't as large as it has been in some past Remenyiks, but was pretty strong (even without Marsh adding a whole other level). I came out of the pools 4-2 (lost my first bout of the day to Bass, and lost to Justin Purcell 5-4), bye the first DE round, won the bout in the 64 handily, and then lost 15-8 to Ed Kaihatsu in the 32.

| Laurie & American Fencing gives out a gift certificate to the club that has the overall standings for all the events. I was wondering who won it this year.
Ann's footwork is fine. Are you saying her back arm is not in the air high enough? Are you saying that her lunges are too powerful? I wouldn't criticize something that works really well for her. How about this: be on 3 olympic teams, a multitude of world teams, place higher than 10 in the world point standings and then you can criticize. |

| mifencer, I think you're taking a little bit too much offense to an offhand comment that seems to have been said without any malice.
Is anne marsh in the top 10 on the world standings now? On the current national team?
It stands to reason that if she isn't training and competing as actively as she was that her form and performance MAY have deteriorated A LITTLE BIT. Someone observing this, or maybe even just not noticing the subtlty of what is actually great footwork, isn't NEARLY cause for such a venemous response.
And you know what. There are coaches, some of them spectacularly talented, that don't fence, didnt fence well, or never even fenced. If they critique something on someone else are you going to go demand they win an open tournament then they can talk?
