| Trying to start somethin' I'd like to start a local spot to teach fencing, esp. to kids, Jr. Highers, Hi. School, college. So, the BIG question: start with foil, or epee? No right-of-way with epee, everythings a target, but seems to lose out on the "finesse" aspects of the foil. What do you think? What is best? Or is there not really a big difference? |

| :) Take a look @ what other countries r doing. The Haverstock club in London start their kind with Epee, and, they're bloody good (excuse the French). The Italians start their kids @ 6 years old (with muscle building games etc) with Epee, and they're really good. I would say Epee, but, as anyone who knows me would tell you, I'm crazy about Epee!
Good luck |

| I've had good results starting all my kids with sabre, but that's just bowing to the inevitable since I'm a sabre fencer. They really love it and it seems easier for me to teach them right-of-way with it.

| Epee! :P The kids I'm teaching Epee to absolutley love it! They tried the other two, but when i showed 'em the epee, they got that look in their eyes (you know the "OMG where have u been all my life?" look! :P)
As long as you make it fun, and you know about the chosen weapon, I don't think it matters which weapon u teach 'em. |

| epee or foil I just started a fencing club at my high school. To start the training we're using foils, and after they've learned the basics, they'll be able to start epee. |

| Yes, slavishly doing whatever "most people do" is clearly the best way to go! |
