Russian grips are evil and square

Okay, I was trying to be unique and experimentive and stuff. I bought this Russian grip to try it out. Man...Russian people sure like pain or something. I've gotten used to the way it feels, but there is nice, sharp square corner that causes suffering in my palm.

Are all Russian grips like this or did I just get a bad one?!?

They vary slightly from vendor to vendor.

They may simply not be right for you.

On my Russian grips from Allstar and Amfence (I think those may be Negrini) I've had to grind the corner off which pressed on the palm.

I didn't have to do anything on the "generic" grips from Physical Chess.

So if you like the rest of the grip's fit, get a file or grinder and make that grip your very own custom "cowpaste special"

It's good to know that someone else was having the same problem. I think I'll do that grinding thing. All I need now is a metal file. :P

And a few tips if your go with a file:

    - aluminum is soft and will gob up and clog the file. Get a file-brush as well to keep it clean.

    - run some chalk (as in blackboard) over the file, and less aluminum will stick and clog.

    - files cut only on the push stroke, dragging it backwards only shortens its life.

    - files come in a lot of shapes and sizes,. Good ones are expensive. Get at least three to start : Flat, round, and half round...

    - It will be most convenient if you bolt the grip onto an old blade w/o guard, then clamp blade in a vise to hold it while you file.

    Cowpaste- AMEN!!!

I abhore the Russian grips, they ARE square, and nasty, and hurt your hand, and chew on your palm, and were created by Satan, I'm pretty sure...

See, I personally wouldn't even try to file it, I'd just ditch it for a German. But thats my preference. I've never seen a Russian untill I got to the club where I am right now, and people seem to like them here. Beats me...

    good luck!

I can't help but think there's some sort of inside joke here that I'm missing completely.
