| It does usually depend on who decides to show up (Notre Dame? Ohio State?). It has been a very strong event for the last few years, though. I certainly remember getting a pretty good education (read: severe beating) every year.
I always thought it was amusing that Remenyik is usually the first tournament for NU newbies. I have a vivid memory, from my first year fencing there, of my hands shaking so badly after the first bout that I couldn't get them to put electrical tape on my saber guard--had to have my brother do it for me.
James, I heard Regionals is being held at SPAC this year, but I didn't know Remenyik was. Have fun dragging those strips over there!
Oh, and how did Burton go today? Know the results? Or is that going to be posted on the NU Fencing web site this year?

| Actually, the location is up in the air right now. Currently it is still scheduled at Patton, but facilities had lots of issues with getting up the wrestling equipment, so we still might end up having it a SPAC. As to the results in the tournaments, Luke got 2nd in the Burton and I got 3rd (2nd in Men's) in the Big Ten. I can't really remember how the other weapons went except that I know Ed (Kaihatsu) won foil in the Burton. As to posting the results of things, I suppose it might be posted on the site, but I'm not the webmaster, so I'm not sure.

| Well Notre Dame is getting their championship rings at the USC game on the day of Men's and Women's foil, and women's sabre so they'll probably not be there for saturday. I heard some OSU guys might be coming in.

| There has been an official venue change for this tournament, I have received an e-mail from one of the NU fencers stating:
"The Remenyik is going to be held at the Northwestern Sports and Aquatic Center (SPAC) this year. SPAC is right next to the lake, so if you took Lincoln Street down to where the lake is, it goes right and turns in Campus Drive. SPAC will be the first building on the left, it's a pretty huge complex, so it's hard to miss."
This is actually the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion / Norris Aquatic Center (SPAC), 2311 Campus Drive, Evanston, IL, which is essentially "behind" Patten Gym and seems to share the same parking lot: http://aquavite.northwestern.edu/map...gi?lookupid=93[/url]
I'd contact NU fencing if you have any other questions. |

| Usual suspects for MF would be Peter Habala, Matt Cameron and Ed Kaihatsu from Chicago, and Justin Purcell and Mike Cho from Michigan. I don't know if Bakhyt's fencing this year, but he'd certainly be in the mix if he chooses to do so. Fitzgerald Tsen usually drives up from Kansas for it and can be reasonably expected to make the 8. Of course, there's always the question of someone from futher afield showing up-- Remenyik typically doesn't have quite the nationwide draw that DitD or the PdT do, but you can still have fencers from the coasts or even futher attending. One year ('96 IIRC) Thorsten Becker from Tauberbischoffsheim happend to be in Michigan for a university semester, and pretty much steamrolled all comers.

| WF:
Ann Marsh has been home and fencing open tourneys in the Michigan division.....if she shows up at Remenyik I would think that she is the favorite in womens' foil. |

| I'd agree with Neevel about MF, except for Habala, he didn't do too great at the Burton and I think he tends to not do so great at the Local Tourneys. Or maybe he will peak for this one. Who knows?
