| USFA Member Card I recently renewed my USFA membership at a local event. At the time of renewing, I had a foil E03 and epee E03. A couple of weekends after that I participated in a tournament and recieved a C03 in epee.
The problem is that I just got my card in the mail. While I know it is too soon for the C03 to show up on it (I just recieved the C03 last weekend), it has me listed as U for epee, which is incorrect even at the time they printed the card. There's a form for correcting errors. My question is should I fill it out and send it in, or should just ignore it knowing that my new rating should go through soon? Will you recieve a new card everytime you get a new rating? How can you be sure that these things are getting properly recorded? Who's responsibility is it to submit them to the USFA?
Also, is there a correct term for these letters? I hear some people refer to them as ratings and others as classifications?
I know that's a lot of questions, so, thanks in advance for any help.

| They're generally referred to as classifications.
I would suggest writing, e-mailing, or calling the USFA about the error. If you are courteous and don't expect immediate results, I've found that they do a good job of fixing problems; they don't do a great job of finding problems, though, so the mistaken U in epee will stay there unless you point it out.

| And tell them when you got your E03 (say, at the competition in March 14, 2003, I took fifth place in a D1 competition). Helps if a division officer who was present or whoever was the bout committee head for the event can vouch for your claim.

| Thanks for the help. I'll definitely send them an email soon.
I guess my concern was if it was worth the bother because like I said last weekend I got a higher classification anyway. So, regardless of whether they recorded the original E, the new classification should still get recorded. Right?
I'm just afraid that them not recording the E may have effected some other competition I was in. It probably wouldn't have any effect on me, but it might effect someone else.
I guess I'll notify them just to be on the safe side.

It is the responsibility of the Division--chair or secretary--to report the changes of classification to the USFA.
The only way to be sure that these things are getting properly recorded is to volunteer as a Division officer.
Otherwise, you just have to trust us...
