| That's a nice lookin bill. I bet that pretty soon we'll have all kinds of colored cash over here.
What I'm wondering is: when they changed to the new style of bills with the larger offset pictures not all that many years ago, why didn't they introduce the new colors as well?

| The idea was to introduce change incrementally, so that reactionaries like me could accustom themselves to the outrage gradually instead of throwing conniption fits.
I don't like it, myself---making the world's most important currency look just like the "funny money" in use everywhere else in the world---but what can you do against the Treasury? |

| What can you do against the Treasury? Boycott!! Refuse those paychecks!! Rip up those brand new, crisp $20 bills!! When the politicians see the numbers under the poverty line approaching 90%, they're bound to have some kind of committee to not decide anything!! |

| Actually, I liked the ones before the current version. The new ones make Jackson's forehead look HUGE... And now our money looks more and more like the Euro. Another reason to dislike it.

| I don't think it looks at all like the Euro, and I don't find it particularly colorful. But maybe it's a bad scan. To me it's pretty much a new variation on an old theme, so not that radical of a change... But then again, we all know the American's have a very special relationship with their money...
The Australian banknotes are indeed really cool. Question for the Aussies: is that true that they are made of plastic? I read somewhere (I think it was on Slashdot) that they chose to make them out of very thin sheets of plastic so that they were harder to counterfeit, and more resistant. The savings made by the Australian government on replacing money are pretty important, IIRC.
Inq' out of curiosity, what makes you say the dollar is the most important currency in the world? Define "important" for me please!
Personally, I don't feel the dollar is more important than any other currency.

| Yes Veeco, they are made out of plastic with a see through bit in the corner with an etched design and a funky silver thread through them They wash well (no disintergrating during the wash cycle!). They are also kewl colours..Purple/lilac for the $5, Blue for the $10, Red for the $20, Yellow/corn for the $50 and lime green for the $100.

| I heard and was told that the reason they changed it and added more color to it is so that it will be harder to make fake bills and pass them off as real. I don't see how it will help a whole lot, but every little bit counts.
Personally, I think we should go to the euro along with everyone else. That way when we travel country to country for tournys, fun, buisness whatever then we don't have to go through all of the hassel to get our money changed.
