| I object to grouping guns n' roses and system of a down together under a generic "rock". If you really want to get technical, Good Charlotte isn't punk either, it's mainstream pop. But then again I hate punk, and to hate punk you really have to know your punk to be able to defend yourself. Well, in my school at least.

| I like *good* music.
Good music has at least one, preferably more, of the following traits:
1) Thoughtful - Is it politically incisive? (Creednce, Dylan, Steve Earle, Clash) Does the musicianship burn a hole in my head? (Hendrix, Miles Davis, SRV, Stravinsky, Tool) Are the harmonies freakin' amazing? (Indigo Girls, Moxy Fruvous) How about them beats? (Moby, Eminem, Snoop, Jurassic 5, Prodigy)
2) Emotional - Is it sufficiently pissed (Nirvana, Ramones), sad (BB King), funny (Moxy Fruvous, Warren Zevon), or soothing? (CA Guitar Trio, James Taylor) Can you make me care that she took yer dawg and yer pickup truck? (Bruce Robison) Do I feel like I'm in Jersey (Springsteen), Philly (Marah), or Mexico (Pistoleros), even in the midst of the Rochester winter? Is it so infectious that you can't get it out of your head for days later? (Brian Wilson)
3) Illegal - Does it cause my car to involuntarily violate the speed limit? By how much? (Soundgarden, Rage vs. the Machine, Springsteen, and many more...)
I hate *BAD* music. Bad music is created to cash in on a trend (see: punk in 2003, grunge in 1995, etc...), or when models posing as musicians hook up with producers who aren't good enough to disguise their flaws (see: Britney). Good musicians can make bad music by reaching too high (McCartney's classical album), refusing to evolve (AC/DC), or marrying Yoko Ono.

| I listen to most everything. Rock, pop, classical, easy listening, etc. It all depends on my mood.
I listen to rock or heavy stuff when I'm in a bad mood and need to chill.
I listen to classical when I'm calm and want to stay calm or when I'm working on homework, papers etc.
Just depends on what I want to hear at that moment.

| When working, I listen to something up beat to keep working at a good pace. Kind of makes me feel like I am in a factory working behing an assembly line: http://www.di.fm is a great Trance radio I listen to.
When I am at home, it's jazz, easy listening, some poppy stuff (It's fun sometimes, and you don't have to think too much). Besides, it's easy to get my girlfriend to listen to it.
I like more folkloric songs every once in a while, Tri Yann is a french celtic group for example that's pretty good.
I like Arabic music as well, some heavy metal (but not too heavy, I can't stand that pointless screaming from say, Pantera).
One person I once met came at my place for the first time, and he looked at my CDs, and said, "Dude, you know how some people, you can tell a lot about them just by looking at their CD collection? I can't tell a thing about you from yours!"
I take it that I am pretty eclectic ;-)

| I agree with the sentiments voiced by AndrewH. I listed to various stuff but at the moment I listen to a lot of underground electronica. I'm currently listening to a radio station called cyberage. If you are interested check them out on the web @ www.cyberage.cx |

| Cowpaste- talk about it! *grrrrr*
I am yet another "other". I have classical, Eminem, enya.... well, people are usually confused when they look through my CD collection. I've never found anyone who didn't like at least part of it... I like all of it. It just depends on the mood and if I'm trying to stay awake for a long drive or a late night at work. (Or if I'm trying to annoy the guy I work with, and then its Eminem ALL the way *evil laughter*).
David Wilcox, LOTS of David Wilcox!

| I like almost anything that doens't have violence messages. I especially like:
Spanish music - Ole - the bullfight and the spirit of fencing is there
Indian music - for the tabla drum, which I am crazy for
Middle Eastern music - for the percussions
American Jazz - like Dave Brubeck, Chick Korea,
Techo pop - so I can do stuff in the house without thinking too much
Yahoo Music: Including
Super Bounce Out Music -
Glinx Music
Gem Drop Music [very 'yes sir"]

| I have very eclectic tastes in music. I truly believe in variety as the spice of life.
I do find lately that I have been leaning toward obscure musicians. Groups I seen in clubs or bars. The mainstream music scene is flooded with stuff I'm not interested in. |

| Why is "easy listening" called that? Every time I hear it I want to break things. Usually speakers and amplifiers. |

| I guess mine would be grouped under "rock" eventhough, I wouldn't group them with GnR. My favourite band, without a doubt, would be Iron Maiden! They are my passison! I could go on for hours about Iron Maiden, but I will spare you the anguish .
