1- it's not just my jacket, all my other clothes have shrunk.

Hmmm... I fence left handed, plus I'm a short, small guy... they don't make LH stuff for men as small as me.

I ordered the wrong size. It was too much hassle to send it back and exchange it so I decided it was close enough. I wear a sabre lame that covers the whole thing anyway but next time I know what size to get.

Saberuse;

Let me guess...you ordered from Allstar or Uhlmann and gave an American size, even though they're sold in Euro sizes? I did the same when I bought my FIE gear last year. I got everything right except for my new sabre lame. My mistake, and Blade was happy to do the exchange when I informed them of the error.

Of course, it helped that I only dealt with the guy who actually speaks English!

Purple Fencer, actually I have only myself to blame. I "underestimated" myself. It's just a *little* snug.

Arturo, as far as other reasons a jacket may no longer fit...
At my first tournament ever, we had a very mixed sabre field--men, women, newbies, veterans, whatever. My first opponent was an obvious veteran. He had apparently acquired his jacket and lame in much leaner days. The lame was fairly green around the neck and his t-shirt was pooching out at his sides where his jacket and knickers no longer met. He was being hooked up by another veteran because he was too busy finishing his Big Mac and french fries on the strip immediately before the bout.

Good Lord...how could you miss him?

I've seen BIG guys, however, who defend REAL good. Duh!

Well, I've seen almost 15 years use out of my practice jacket. I swear, cotton never stops shrinking!

Let me describe this fine jacket:
It has many colors: brown around the kneck, yellow under the arms, with a smattering of blood brown rust marks across the back. With its overall gray-white color it goes well with the finest of fencing knickers.

It fits like a glove - or perhaps a corset - especially when I take a really deep breath and get that last snap to close. Oh, so sleek, so elegant. What a figure I cut!

One arm is multi-textured where a broken blade went through the cloth at the forearm and came out at the shoulder. My heavily knotted attempt at darning the holes has given that sleeve a particularly tailored fit.

The thing that is best, however, is the way the three-quarter sleeves expose my boney wrists and elegant hands. It makes me feel just like a model.

Who says my jacket doesn't fit?
