Someone needs to smack Google

I can't say I see the main page on fencing.net all that often. I pay even less attention to the ads. But I just noticed the Google ad...with all the "fencing" sites ... somebody needs to smack these people. I get there is probably some agreement to sell the ad space, but do they realize how dumbt it is to have the wrong kind of fencing links? It's really anti-selling me on using Google.

Google is king for searches... hands down.

I don't pay any attention to the ads, I forget they are there. But if I need to find something, Google is where I go.

I Googled fencing and hit "I feel lucky" and found this site. But yeah, you think they'd advertise for the right hits on a site.

Some minor functionary in the advertising department said, "Fencing? Lemme see...oh, yeah--we got summa that right here..." punched a button and moved on to "Fiberglass". He/she obviously doesn't have a clue what the site is about, but then neither does the majority of the general population, so it shouldn't be all that much of a surprise. (How many of you, when first mentioning that you fence, have heard that hoary old chestnut, "Oh, yeah? Chainlink or split-rail?" followed by loud guffaws as if they'd just told The Most Original Joke In The World? If I had a nickel for each time, I could buy Leon Paul.)

I don't mind, however--whatever helps our Esteemed Webmaster pay his bills is just fine with me.
