1. All edged weapons must travel as hold baggage.
2. I use a golf club hard case, it's relatively cheap and it doesn't look
like it holds anything interesting. Your luggage may be under a half tonne
of other gear and soft bags always get crushed.
3. Lock it, keep the keys on you, if it is opened it will be when you are
there.
4. Carry some documentation from the event organisers with names and dates
on it
5. Smile a lot and don't make bad jokes about dangerous weapons, if anyone
asks then it's either sports equipment or, if you're a re-enactor type like
me, theatrical props.
