Women's Foil World Champs Preview: Discussion

http://www.fencing101.com/2003WFWCPreview.php

Preview of the Women's Foil World Championship.

I'm not making any wild bets, but based on the last few world cups, I'd say that Gruchala has momentum going into the WC's.

You just say that because she's hot...

Iris Zimmermann is the anchor for the US team? I hope she doesn't get mad at me for saying this, but I don't think she should be anchoring.

She is, but the last 3 events she's placed 1st, 1st, and 2nd. I'd say that's peaking at the right part of the season.

I don't know what kind of gamesmanship goes on, so you could argue that Vezzali and Trillini had #1 and #2 on the standings pretty much locked up so they didn't need to go all out in the last 2 events either...

As for me, I hope that someone from Hungary will make at least top 4. Maybe Aida Mohamed or Gabriella Varga... Gabi is the new European champ.
