Array two, four, six, eight... I'm fairly new to the sport, been fencing a few months and have finished fairly well at a few novice and E&under tournaments. This is something I should probably know by now, but does anyone have a good picture or good description of all the lines. I'm familiar with 6 and 4 from my beginning foil class, but the others leave me guessing as to which is hi or low or inside or outside. Any info is much appreciated.
p.s. if this has already been addressed in another thread, please, point me to it....Thanks! -

Array On the left hand side of the screen is the glossary, I'm sure you can work out a mental image from the way it is described. -

Array There's also a really great t-shirt on the subject over at big4ourbritches. -

Array I bought that very T-Shirt when I was just starting and it was invaluable!
Just being able to remember that 1-4 are all palm down (pronated) parries and that all the others were palm up (supinated) was also instrumental in helping me learn the parrys.
I call them the Box Z. The first four parries form a box, and 5-8 form the letter Z. -

Array Carl, I beg to differ. Supinated (palm up) parries are 4, 6, 7 & 8; pronated (palm down) are 1, 2, 3 & 5. -

Array Thanks for the input all! It was all very helpful, and the T-shirt had exactly the sort of graphic I was looking for.
Thanks!
