Adistar hi tops/ Aysmetrics

Which are lighter? Which do yall feel has better lateral support? Also, which would fit better for a wide footed fencer? Do those who own the Equipment shoes like that sole?
Thanks!

lighter: the low-tops
better support: probably the high-tops. But the real question is whether the engineers in shoe development were really able to provide sufficient lateral support for the trailing foot (or both) for the sport when it is practiced with adequate footwork. In my personal opinion (and as personal preference), I think so. This actually has made me try to do better footwork OTW I don't get as much lateral support. So in my view, the low-tops provide sufficient lateral support (better than the D'arts, etc) for the sports and are the best shoe available.

The Equiment asymmetrics trade a bit of extra weight for more cushioning and shock-absorption. It took a little getting used to the weight increase over my grey/black low-top Adistars, but once I was used to that I found the support better. The sole will seem a bit slick on smooth floors when new, but once it gets broken in will be fine and will probably outlast the older-style sole, especially if you're on copper pistes a lot.

My experience has been that all of the German Adidas fencing shoes run narrow-- if your feet are very wide it may be that neither will work well for you. I know a number of people who have to buy shoes other than Adidas for precisely this reason.

If you really want to drop a chunk of change, there is a high-top version of the Equipment asymmetric (typically about $200 from US vendors).

JEC, I was comparing Adistars hi-top and Assymetrical low-tops. Sorry, I should have made it more clear. But thanks, now I know that I certainly want low-top over hi-top Equipments! But, the question is, how do the Equipments compare to Adistar? Even if the equipment's are low-top, are the Adistars still lighter?
