Fencing is not televised in the US. You can, however, see some clips at fencingfootage.com and here (click on the "Fencing Store" link.)

    Cheers,

If you live in Canada, Radio Canada (French CBC) sometimes carry it esp. during the Olympics.

thanks, it seems like the only way to see it live other than going to the tournaments is to buy the (limited?) commercial video/dvd's, sad it is... I'd think that one can gain a lot of insight by watching top players play.

I will certainly agree with you. I have gained a lot of insight into fencing by watching the international level epeeists fence.

    Eurosport video

    Hi!

Eurosport, a pan-European sports channel specializing in airing sports that are not covered by most channels, (sumo, biathlon, etc) and 2-tier events in the big European sports, does cover fencing during the Olympics, World Championships and maybe some other event every year. RAISPORT, the Italian state TV sports channel, also usually covers the fencing European championships. I have also seen fencing on Viasat sport.

I am one of the relatively few European posters here, and I have videotaped the Eurosport coverage since 1997. I have then sent each year´s batch to Eric Dew, who has converted them from PAL to NTSC tapes. He has taken up orders for copies, and sent out them to american fencers. The 2003 WC in Cuba are soon coming up, and the whole process will repeat itself.

If you want more info on this, I suggest that you check old posts here and on rec.sport.fencing - use the search word Eurosport.

    Have a nice time!

As some of you might notice, I don't post on RSF anymore. If and when I get the tapes from Peter, I'll post the information on this forum. This year's WC should be an interesting one, as it will definitely hint at the possible match ups for the Olympics.

thanks Peter for the info, actually if you capture them in digital foramt, there is no need to send the tapes nor convert from PAL to NTSC.

How exactly do you watch these matches without getting ripped off?
