| I fell asleep this afternoon stealing a few minutes for a nap and dreamed that I wired my epees, got to a tournament, and found out that (??) I HADN'T wired them. And I was trying to test my epee, and it just wouldn't work. Agh! Then I woke up and had to wire my epee. Put the pressure on, yeah!
When I was fencing in Wales, I used to have dreams of fencing a faceless women's team, and winning to find out that my bouts didn't count because I was American. |

| Remember that dreams aren't always truly connected to the subject they take form in. Fencing is a big part of your life, something you are obviously very passionate about. You, in your dreams may project other facits of your life in this manner.
ie..you forgot an important part of a work project or the computer doesn't work, or you have been late for something. These things could all be translated into dreams with apparently "other" subjects.
Try to take control of your dreams. Use some of the suggestions. When you have a dream were you are unprepared borrow. If it's broken fix it. |

| Lately my dreams have switched to where I have working gear, maybe because I actually have a single wired epee, and I actually fence. Now my dreams deal with fencing and not running around trying to get my weapons to work.
That is an interesting idea of yours, Damion.

| Thanks D, Bt the way I'm in SA TX just wondered where in SE TX you were.
On my team there is a guy who does a lot of sword fighting. Not so much fencing, as my definition of such is kinda limited. To be totally honest I know very little about fencing. Anyway he competes in those medevil tournaments. Sword fighting, joust, mixed combat. It's great I did it once with him as a goof. I got my a$$ handed to me. |

| Damian,
I am located in the Beaumont area. I do a fair amount of fencing, but I am by no means an expert.

| I know at this point we are totally off subject (suprise). How did you get into fencing? School? Friend interest you? In the US it seems like such a small community. |

| That is fine, we discuss this from time to time.
I had always been interested in swords as a child. As a high school student, I read a great deal of Alexandre Dumas and became somewhat infactuated with all the swordsmanship in Dumas' novels concerning the Three Musketeers.
I oftentimes day dreamt that I was D'Artagnan, or some simular hero, slashing and hacking through enemies with my rapier. One day I decided to check the usfa.org site and see if maybe, just maybe, there might be a fencing club in Dallas. I thought that perhaps after college I could move to a town to take fencing lessons. I was delighted to find out that there was a club practically in my back yard all of those years! That was February of 2000. I have been in and out of fencing for the past 3 1/2 years.
When I first started, I knew a bit about fencing from the usfa.org site concerning the difference between foil, epee and sabre. From the onset, right of way made perfect sense to me. As time has gone by, however, interpretation of right of way makes less and less sense to me. My solution has been to stop gripping about right of way and fence epee!

| Are there a lot of tournaments or do you compete in your club or is it club to club comps? I know there is stuff in the collegate realm, but I don't know how much there is at a post college level. |

After that day, I can see the importance of community weapons, or at least being kind enough to let your fellow mate borrow weapons. | Very true. I am lucky enough to have four epees, plus the ones my school lets me borrow. my friends, whose parents arent as generous with the cash as mine, constantly need to borrow them because their one weapon is out, and i am happy to lend them.
besides, i myself have been stuck in a situation where i am in a competition and none of my swords are working, and i need to borrow one. i went to the only person there i knew who was left handed as well, and he had about 6 weapons but wouldnt give me one. i only wanted to finish my last pool match but all he would say was 'i dont want to risk you breaking them.'

| Annoying dreams? No problem!
Just go run a few miles every day, and you'll be so exhausted there's no way you can dream!
Works for me......

| Indy4ever, your epee borrowing troubles outline what I HATE about people. I've been in the no spares situation a lot (even fenced Welshpool open with on epee- the only one the club had- and it DIED my FIRST BOUT!!! Someone I'd never met loaned me a spare, thank God). Now that I have spares... I'd generally loan them.
Granted, I DO know a few fencers I might not loan to (mainly because I own ONE spare, and they break weapons at an awful frequency)... but in general, and if its a find a spare of don't fence situation? *holds nose and takes plunge*
Being the only epeeist in my current club makes life hard sometimes. |

| WOOHOO IM BACK! I actually tried to post this a couple of weeks ago when Soldier first mentioned his at attention nightmares but my lovely computer decided to not work for a couple of weeks so even though its a little late i think everybody will still enjoy the funny story.
I feel your pain. Im in marching band(attention is the same concept in marching). dont you just love when your at attention and a bug decides to land right on your nose? funny story even though i think only those ppl who have had to endure hours of marching(either in band or otherwise) would understand, but anyway. so we were standing around and this guy next to me had grass all over his shirt and he decided to take it off to get all the grass off. he brushes off the grass and starts to put his shirt back on when we hear BAN-TON-HUT! so he stood there at attention with his shirt half on. i almost died laughing. |
