    SACRAMENTO NATIONAL QUESTION..

Hey guys, let's see if you can help me with this one....

Can somebody from another country participate in this tourney??
I'd really like to go, if I can, what do i need besides USFA permission??

    Thanks.

Sorry Alex, but this is US only. Would love to have you stop by to watch, though!

USFA permission shouldn't be that hard, should it? I've heard they're really nice people. If you're aiming for DIv III or Div II, I don't think they'll be such hard-liners than if you wanted to compete in Div I or Div I-A. Make a phone call or two, write some letters, and it might come down to $25 in fees and a written appeal and you'll be in like Flynn! Heck, go for it!

You absolutely HAVE to be either a US citizen or permanent resident in order to compete. This isn't something which has an appeals process, like qualifying, it's the way the rules are.

Agree with ouiyt, we have a German national that fences with us and couldn't buy, bribe or cajole his way in to Nationals when they were in Austin last year.

I am part of the organizing committee in Sacramento and it is my understanding that this event is open only to US residents. Sorry about that. And by the way, Gigi is no longer with the USFA.

What happened to Gigi? Who has replaced her? I'm guessing Toni Dreher would have returned if Gigi left. That position is such an important position to be left open for any amount of time.

Edew, I don't have the information on why Gigi left. I don't believe they have yet replaced her. I am dealing directly with Michael Massick at this time regarding tournaments. I am sure this will all be sorted out soon.

Seems USFA has run off quite a few people out of the main office. Anybody got a clue as to what's going on?

I don't know the situation with Gigi, but the previous two tournament organizers left partly on their own volition.
