Foils?

I recently taken up fencing and i grew a liking towards it. When i first begun, i used only a piston grip to practice and i had no complaints. THEN i used a french foil and it was AMAZINGLY light! I had so much for control and more speed! My question is are all french foils like this? or did i just happen to use a very high quality foil?
i'm looking to buy a foil and the french is my direction, but i live in the US and fencing equipment is hard to find, anyone know any sites that will provide my needs? I went to Leon Paul...only to find that the shipping was $30...more then half of the actual foil...

The French grip foil may or may not have been marginally lighter. But for certain it was better balanced, which is what you felt. Also Electric weapons have a much heavier tip than dry, which also affects how the blade feels.

There are lots of places to buy equipment in the US... All have websites. go to the USfencing.org site for a list of vendors, or do a googl search.

I've had a good experience with triplette.com (based in North Carolina).

I also prefer french grip : )

FencingPost has "Uhlmann Ultra" blades for about $60 wired if I remember correctly, but then i see on the blue-gauntlet web page "Uhlmann BF" blades for about the same price which makes me think they are the same blade. Are they?
