| Warren Zevon just passed away this weekend. I don't know if he'll make any top 100 list, but he was special.
I'll show some agedness too:
- Cream
- Derek and the Dominos
- The Rolling Stones, of course.
- The Who
All obvious ones, and then I'll add sentimental fave:
- Little Feat
Hey Dragonfly, BOC was a GREAT band - and sometimes performed as Soft White Underbelly. Don't let these whippersnappers put ya down!

| I like Inq's inclusive notion of "band". Whatsamatter, you don't like the Berlin Philharmonic under Von Karajan?

| Hobex(local North Carolina area band)
Pearl Jam(great live shows and music with a conscience)
Dave Mathew's Band(excellent live shows)
Van Halen(David Lee Roth years)
Journey(most under rated great band of all time)
My answers are under the notion of "rock bands" there are some great soloists out there. Also so new artists that don't have longevity under their belt yet. |

| The Mothers
and I forgot these the first time:
The Yardbirds
The Ramones
Elvis Costello and the Attractions
and the third time around I'd like to add:
Steely Dan
REM
Howlin' Wolf
Lenny Kravitz
Nirvana
Jimi Hendrix
The Pretenders
Talking Heads
Tom Waits
The Velvet Underground
The Clash
The Kinks
J. J. Cale
Chuck Berry
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Talking jazz ...
Miles Davis
Charlie Parker
Louis Armstrong
With the "classical" or "serious" groups mentioned elsewhere, most of them only do covers of the works of others. A great group performs their own stuff. Philip Glass's ensemble as a great "serious" band perhaps?

Blue Oyster Cult [watch out!] | It's John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. The Electric Light Orchestra is an entirely different group with no affiliation (to my knowledge). |

| I stand CORRECTED! on the Mahavishnu thing; and what age, I am ageless! I stopped listening after New Age, everything up to Dolphins Singing was okay, after that Blah! I like music with some pow to it, or really weird.
More favorites:
Ravi Shankar
Shanti Shanti Shanti [peace peace peace]
Hindi Music - give it whirl you'll get into it
Reva MacIntyre
Suzanne Vega
The Blue Jays [a spin off from the moody blues]
The Moody Blues
[Craig I think Milli is deceased]

Now let's Karajan, shall we? |

Yes
Boston
Dave Matthews Band
Kansas
Queen
Metallica (Not my favorite by any means, but their longevity in the metal market is phenomenal)
There are some new bands out there that haven't had the chance for longevity yet, but may make my list in the future, but not yet....
