| D'artagnan's list was exceedingly awesome. Anyhow.
Van Halen, Zilch, Switchblade Symphony, Depeche Mode, Echoing Green, Juno Reactor, Bif Naked, Astral Projection, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Foghat, Harajuku, Apollo 440, Curve, Basil Poledouris, Blind Guardian, Garbage, Nightwish, Therion, Def Leopard, The Scorpions, No Doubt, George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers, Freezepop, KMFDM, Jars of Clay, Jethro Tull, Power Symphony, Our Lady Peace, Rip Slyme, Tears for Fears, Kamelot, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method, Prodigy, DJ HMX, The Symbion Project.
I really have no clue how many that was, but that's my list and I'm sticking to it.
[edit] Added a couple I'd forgotten.

| many good bands but of all time they would have to be:
Nirvana
the beatles
the stones
and floyd
but there are plenty of other good ones out there these are just the ones that can probably stand the test of time.

| It has to be the Beatles fara nd above any one else. They drew us out of the maudlin stuff that passed for music before.
How come no one mentioned
The Bee Gees
Abba
I definitely will include the SFU - that's Simon Fraser University - Bagpipe Band. They've been the bagpipe world Champions a few times over. i know the Scotlanders will hate this...
I think Die Berliner Philharmonik under von Karajan was extraordinary. I was so moved when I saw the movie - in a cinema - of them doing Beethoven's 9th!!!! Exceptional...

11) Billy Bragg
12) Velvet Underground
* This list changes for me at least montly
and then some other more recent great bands....

q & not u
radiohead
Yo La Tengo
The Shins

| Why the Clash 1s and 0s? What of theirs is really great besides Rock the Casbah and Should I stay or should I go?
Explain the Talking Heads too. Those are bands that I like but don't know enough of their stuff to put them in the top of my list.
The Cure, now there is a band that has held their edge for years!
