| Swordmaster Series Still On! To all of you out there who may be registered, or just interested:
The Swordmaster Series is Still On for this weekend!
Check-in is from 9-10 AM on Saturday at the Eastridge Mall in Gastonia, NC. It's on the first floor by the elevators.
Some changes:
Dekko13 (aka David Burns) is no longer involved with the event due to corruption that is unmentionable.
The winner is guaranteed to get paid. No worries there.
For more information please call 704-752-6353 (before 4PM) or 704-882-9576 (only after 4 PM)
Thanks all for listening.

| Is the winner guaranteed to get $1000? Even if there are fewer than 40 entries?
Hearing an organizer say there is "unmentionable corruption" involved with their event doesn't give me a great deal of confidence in the event. We expect that in national politics, not in a local tournament. |

| Not to worry. When you signed up for the tourney, the prize was $1000 with, or without 40 entrants, and it still is. We plan to stay true to the event you signed up for.

| What news from Mordor, master?
(The unmentionable corruption is just weird.)
Anyway, good luck with the tournament! I hope it's exciting and that everybody has fun!
Someone report how it goes off! |

-Karen | Don't you mean when he signed up the prize was $1125 with or without 40 entrants?

*who's rooting for the corruption to be mentioned in detail (can we get a poll on that?)*

| As much as I would like to mention all of the "corruption" in detail, I believe one of the rules of this site is against slandering people. I don't wanna get in trouble.
Just know that Mr. Burns is only out for himself. Watch your back. Enough said.

| It is great that fencergal33 started this thread giving the necessary information on check-in times, etc.
It is unfortunate that she also took the time to slam David Burns. Whether or not there was corruption, difference of opinions, or whatever this should have remained private. Mentioning this served no useful purpose.
Oiuyt mentioned prize money of $1125 for the event. I also was under the impression based on the website that there would be an additional $125 for this event. |

| Refer to the phone numbers in the original post for detailed questions.
By the way Michael Tarascio, you aren't fencing in it, nor have you been anything but derogatory about the whole thing, so why do you care what the prize money is? By no means did I "slam" anyone.
Nuff Said. |

Nuff Said. | Fencergal - I'll assume that you are new to the sport and haven't been involved in much within the southeast.
Michael is a well respected coach in the SE and is heavily involved in the sport. Michael also has a pretty hefty fencing resume, so he's not someone you should go in and dis.
I guess you have your own ax to grind with D. Burns as the most tactful phrasing would have been "I am now the contact as D. Burns is no longer involved..." By stating corruption, you are slamming on D.Burns and encouraging the rumor mill. While that may be nice for hits and gossip, all it does is lower the opinion of the tournament. (If the people that are running it are sniping each other in public, then how professional can it be? is the question that is asked.)
Notice that he also did compliment you for posting relevant information.
Michael's buy in will help you get more fencers from SC involved, and since Charlotte is right on the SC border, that's a prime market for your event.
Let's keep it cordial and move along...
Cheers,
Craig |

| No Problem. If there are any more questions from anyone, please call the phone numbers listed. You can speak to Blake directly.
As for slamming people, Mtarascio has done plenty of that to Blake, and you could say that I take it kind of personally.
I will assume that this thread will get no more posts, as everyone with questions and comments will call above phone numbers. |
