| The only way to be sure is to call up whoever you bought them from. Most places use a metric 6 mm, other places use a 12x24 english. If you have to buy a threader, buy one from a fencing supplier.

| Why buy one from a supplier? Just go get one at a local tool shop.. They'll take care of you, make sure you tell them you're threading tempered steel. I've been using the same die, for several years with good results. Should be able to get a die and handle for 10 to 12$, of good quality.. and not have to pay shipping or wait a week to get it.
If you take the blade with you, they can mic and thread guage it, and make sure you get exactly what you need.

| Thanks for the pass off arcon, don't usually get to the site on the weekends. Was doing the Van Buskirk in Houston this weekend.
Anyway, Crash, you probably have a 6mm-1 thread on your tang. It could be 12-24, but those seem to be less common nowadays, and that die is harder to find also, but Sears carries them both.
To find out which one you have you can measure the diameter of the thread. 6mm is pretty obvious (unless you're using English measuerments and then it's .238") and the 12-24 basic thread dimension is .216". If that is a bit much to do, then just take the damn blade into the store with you and ask the clerk to help you! The store here has gotten used to seeing me in there with my stuff. At least they don't call security anymore.
Good luck.

| thanks
I know it is metric since the pommel that goes on it is metric. I just wasn't sure if I needed to know something other than 6mm like thread pitch. I imagine that is what the -1 refers to when you mentioned 6mm-1 Mergs? |
