| Killer Training Session. Ok, last night (monday) we trialled something new at our club, bout training. It went something like this....
5 mintues skipping in 2 2.5 minute lots with 20 secs of medium skipping and 10 sec of really fast skipping at the end (my coach seems to think it will help my balance...comments?). Then it was 10 minutes distance fencing no parries if we parry we had to squat. then we were only allowed to hit on a step lunge same punishment rules. This also went for 10 minutes. Then 3 bouts to 10 without a break and teh 3rd one against someone I am not too keen on fencing (big gangly and arrogant as hell). Thats when I started swearing at the coach. I was allowed 2 minutes break then anouther bout to 10. 5 mintues private stretching 5 mintues group stretching then king of the hill for 10 minutes with 1 hit bouts 5 people 2 strips.
I was stuffed at the end of it. We are going to do this for 10 weeks as a trail and then maybe continue it. anyone got any suggestions for what else we could do?

| Go shake your coach's hand and thank him. If your coach takes the time to put together a training program, you should stick to it. That's how you will improve! It is hard, but the rewards are worth it, in the end.

| I think it was a good indication of your endurance. It sounds like a good program and it is disciplining you beyond what you would be able to do on your own efforts. Just think of it as better preparation for future tournaments.

| To saberuse,
No, I didn't get up on the proverbial "cranky side of the bed". I just thought it would be worth my time to verbally abuse an Australian. It's kind of a punishment toward Australian citizens for exporting entertainment celebrities like Paul Hogan, Yahoo Serious, and Kylie Minogue.

| My question is, why doesn't a small group of fencing pals/friends/coaches or whatever, go to italy or france and spend a few months in a youth hostel and fence with those people? you don't have to be like a wonderful fencer or anything. you'd had fun, get to eat pasta and or truffles? what do you think? like a vacation, but do alot of intensive training? |

| why don't we all go to france or italy for a year and learn more about FENCING! we could all live in a fencing "youth" hostel and do car washes when we run out of food. |

| Lumburg, I hold no responsibility for any of the people you mentioned.... they are all tratiors to the cause as far as I'm concerned. Introspective, as for fencing intensively overseas, I WISH I COULD (Mario can I stay with you please?)

| To saberuse,
Only in America can I accuse another American of being a communist pinko.
To Zelda,
Once a penal colony, always a penal colony.
To introspective,
If you can't get good at home, you aren't going to get any better in Europe. News flash, pasta and truffles are available outside of Europe.

| Lumburg, I resent that remark, though thats what the british seem to think at this point in time! Interesting fact totally unrelated to fencing, australia's murder rate has not changed in the last 100 years since federation. I dont think the americans can say that!!!!
Mario, thanks sweetie!

| Umm guys keep the fighting for the piste.
Lumberg I understand your remarks - I understand irony.
Canada should be made to publicly apologise for Celin Dion.
Zelda. Most British people know that you guys are not ex-prisoners (even if we did dump prisoners there in the past). I know lots of New Zealanders and Aussies and no-one I know has a problem. Oh! And don't mistake Britishness with Englishness, the English are the typically zenophobic ones!!!
But that would be me being a bit too general.
What is this problem Americans have with communism? |
