beat with blade ok, beat on blade->off-target

I do not understand how this can happen. I am trying to repair a blade
(FIE, with brand stamp that I cannot read, German tip) where after cleaning
the tip and reassembling, I did my usual test where I hook up the tester and
then whack the nearby post with the blade. Tester showed fine. BUT, when I
beat the blade with another one, the light goes off. Clamping the blade
about 6 inches from the tip stopped the light from going off when the blade
is beaten on the grip side of the clamp, but just tapping the blade on the
foible between the tip and the clamp made the light go off.

My guess is that the wire is broken under the cup, although measuring
resistance from cup to socket and wiggling the probe on the cup around shows
no change in resistance from close to zero.

How can this happen with a beat to the blade, but not beat with the blade?

Perhaps, brisance, i.e. the sharpness of the impact being different.

It's will showed up as a white light on a SG 12 Machine. I had a
similiar problem with a weapon at a JO's it tested good on every test
box I had but on the strip blade to blade contact cause the white
light to go on.
