| Best French Point Manufacturer? I like the French points, they're easy to use and I have a decent grasp of how they work which makes trouble-shooting easier for me. However, I recently took an inventory of my parts and found myself with WAAAY too many different barrels and tips. So I'm going to get new parts and I'm firm on staying with the French system, I'd rather have easy to fix but more often than harder to fix less often with crushed screws and such.
Leads me to the question, where should I go about getting French tips and which company is best? I've been buying Prieur but my local club supplier gets the Sport 7 I think from BG. In anycase, I'd like some input on which French tips are the most reliable and such. Thanks. |

| I'd probably lean towards Sport 7- they don't have the problems with the peening of the retaining flange on the tip coming undone with only a little use. Just be sure not to overtighten the barrels when wiring blades, as Sport 7 barrels are more brittle and prone to cracking.

| Id say go with sport 7 if you like French tips, cause they have the metal sleaving instead of plastic. |

| Ok cool, cause there's some minor discount ordering through the club with BG anyhow, so just to confirm, BG's tips aren't a house brand? And I might be willing to switch to German if it ever was cheaper than French . |

| Up till a few years ago BG did carry some Chinese-made points in addition to French and Uhlmann. They were of poor quality, and are no longer sold by them. And I know directly from one of the owners of Sport 7 that they supply BG.

Thats good to know, I'm usually wary of buying anything from BG for fear of quality but I'll take a risk here...
Oddly enough, it is cheaper to buy complete tips from BG as opposed to buying the separate parts. Weird how it works out that way.
Anyone have anything to say about the HPC brand that Triplette sells?

| I usually buy the full point with barrel as I've found that usually keeping the tip and the barrel matched provides a smoother operation of the tip. I guess they make them together so the tolerance is not so much of a factor.

Chances are, if you've found that a new tip in an old barrel doesn't worlk as well its because they've worn in together. |

Anyone have anything to say about the HPC brand that Triplette sells? | I would stay away from the 'bg' brand items. If you're just starting or have a tight budget their sg isn't bad, and its not much more expensive than the bg.
I've never had any problems with their service or shipping, so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't buy other brand's equipment from there (uhlmann, infinity, etc). |
