    This is weird...

    This is really weird!

    Try this...

While sitting at your desk make clockwise circles with your right foot.

While doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.

    Your foot will change direction

There are certain rules on how our brains are wired. The premotor is involved in some complex repetitive behavior (foot circling motion) but when the activation for the hand occurred, primitive reflexes are evoked.

Well, I've stumped several people with this, except a fencing instructor who has NO problem at all... years of fencing I suppose.

Now try this : circle clockwise with left toe, and draw 6 with right finger....much easier than with right foot right finger...In fact left toes can do anything I want pretty well independent of right finger. But left / left is hard in opposite directions.
So hand and feet are wired together bilateraly - not crossing over, makes sense.

What would happen if we had to canter or trot on all fours?

In my own experience, the period of greatest gain in knowledge and experience is the most difficult period in one's life. ...Through a difficult period, you can learn, you can develop inner strength, determination, and courage to face the problem. Who gives you this chance? Your enemy.

    Cut the blue wire.

Its doable. People that can pat their head and rub their belly can probably do it with a little work and practice.

If you want to try something -really- tricky, try tapping out a beat in 3/4 time with one hand and 6/8 with the other hand. Now you know why drummers make some really weird faces (without realizing it) when they are playing complicated stuff.

You know you have a drinking problem when you wake up in Idaho and don't remember how many aliens it took to get you there.

Like circular breathing, it's probably something you could learn to do if you needed to do so. Luckily.....
