Question about Inquartata vs. Demi-Volte.
The United States Fencing Coaches Association, which is primarily
composed of sport fencing masters and coaches, but has recently made an
attempt to represent classical fencing instructors, defines in it's
Glossary of Fencing Terms, INQUARTATA as: "An evasive maneuver executed
by pivoting on the front foot and making a demi-volte to the outside
line, often accompanied by a stop thrust."
Has anyone found any evidence in the historical manuals to indicate any
differentiation in technique between the two or is the "Inquartata"
simply the Italian equivalent to the French "Demi-volte.?"
Sincerely,
Rez Johnson, M.d'E
