In Maestro William Gaugler's book "The History of Fencing", there are numerous references to Eugenio Pini (Beppo Nadi's Instructor), and one reference mentions that his tournament career began in Bologna in 1874 (pg 298). I managed to find 2 references to Guiseppe Pini in the same book, one in which Alberto Marchionni mentions Guiseppe Pini among the list of contributors and friends to his book (pg 150). It looks like the book in question came out around 1847, so that probably means that Guiseppe Pini's career predated Eugenio Pini's career by perhaps 20 years or so (may have been a little overlap here). Guiseppe Pini's name is mentioned as Master of Arms at Livorno, Italy by Vittorio Lambertini (pg 167). Those are the only 2 references I can find about Guiseppe Pini..his relationship to Eugenio Pini is not mentioned as far as I can see. Hope that the info is helpful. Regards, Warren Cabral
