[CFML] How does one get published?

Greetings to all that are on the list!

My name is Henry Walker, I have been lurking on the edge of the list for
quite some time now. I must say that I am officially really impressed with
the level of conversation on the list. I haven't put my "two cents worth" in
for quite some time on the basis that either what I was going to say has
been said or, the subject matter has not exactly been in my field.

To get down to the nitty-gritty of the situation. I have just recently
completed my honours thesis, entitled "Rapier Combat: A Social History" and
am interested in getting published in appropriate journals. I was wondering
if anyone out there could give me some pointers as to direction that I
should pursue to have this done.

On another note, if anyone is interested in reading my thesis, I would be
quite willing to share it. It is my personal opinion that the more
information that is circulated about our arts the more recognition, and the
better informed people will be.

Regards,

....Henry Walker.

Since publishing and academia are kinda up my alley, I'll see if I can
answer you:

Assuming your thesis is article-length, and not book-length (which is a
whole other story), you send it around to the editors of the various
journals: SPADA, Journal of Western Martial Art, etc.

If you would like to know if anyone else has handled the same subject
matter, well, there is no substitite for being familiar with the
literature of the field you study. I also think that being in a community
of scholars you can show your works-in-progress to is invaluable.
