[CFML] Destreza seminar 2003

Seminar of Esoteric Spanish swordplay

A weekend of study on the philosophy and Practice of the Mysterious Circle

Instruction by Maestro Ramon Martinez

April 5th and 6th, 2003

The seminar is open to all skill levels and will include lectures on the
esoteric and philosophical aspects of the Spanish school of swordplay.
Lectures on the history and development of the style. Two days of hands on
instruction with the sword under the instruction of Maestro Martinez, the
foremost authority on the teachings of Caranza and the Spanish Masters.
Maestro Martinez will include an overview of the system and will cover the
combative aspects of the system including psychology of the fight and it's
use against the Italian system of fence. There will be plenty of time for
fencing. If you attended the other two seminars then this will be a good
follow up to the series. If this is your first seminar with us then please
don't worry about it, we will review and cover everything before treading
into new ground.

This will be the last of these seminars for awhile as I will be moving next
winter - so don't miss it this has been an excellant seminar every year.

This is NOT an SCA function or a stage combat venue - I am doing this
independantly. This is a class for the serious student of esotericism and/or
rapier play as a serious martial art.

The Seminar will be held in Ashland Oregon, home of the Oregon Shakespeare
festival. Class size is limited, once full no one else will get in. You must
pre-register wiht a 50% deposit.

Cost $160.00 per person if registration is received before February 23rd,
$180.00 thereafter.

Contact Jeff Richardson for details and registration forms at -

Instruction video sets can be purchased at the Martinez Academy Website and

received the rank of fencing master from Maître Frederick Rohdes in the
traditional manner, through years of apprenticeship. He has spent two
decades reconstructing the Spanish school of rapier fence, La Verdadera
Destreza. Maestro Martínez is a founding member of the International Masters
at Arms Federation and a research consultant for the American Society for
Chivalric Research. He is also associated with the British Federation for
