Array Sueing because of a KItty? Originally posted by a517dogg That brings up an interesting legal issue.
Lets say it was a cat that ate the fish and not a heron. Could Mo then sue the the owner of the cat (assuming it was a housecat) for the losses and/or emotional damage caused by the loss of the fish? Mo would not sue anyone because she does have an abundance of common sense, alright- given, there is no moral issue with a heron, no malicious intent to harm for no reason. Doesn't mean you can't be mad that it ate your fish.
Myra understands!! This is exactly it.
I took measures to help it not happen again. The dumb bird is a bird, a programmed fish, duckling and frog eating machine. They want to live too. But it still grosses me out.
The thing ate my fish! Thankgoodness it did not eat the one that my daughter specifically bought me out of her own hard earned money just to be nice. That would have upset her greatly too.
We have pets, cats, birds, fish, kids whatever. We become attached, if you don't then something is wrong.
BTW the way Ranchers and farmers get the use of government lands and kill everything on it but their damned cows or sheep that do not belong there also annoys me.
Have you ever looked into grazing and water rights?? It will raise your consciousness level to a painful degree. A friend will bail you out of jail,
a true friend will help you hide the body...: ) -

Array Peach- hmm... I see what you mean about a bad example.
While I chose a very poor example (you've shown that. YIKES! ) my intention was to say that we HAVE had a number of lawsuits filed that had very little validity, and often they are filed against companies etc that have done nothing wrong. That doesn't mean that the right to file a lawsuit should be revoked, I just feel that it isn't right that people COULD sue if the next door neighbors kitty ate the goldfish. Some things are just part of life, not due to negligence, or poor manufacturing etc.
Call it a skewed sense of responsibility. *sigh* But it worries me when you find labels such as "do not fold up stroller with child inside" which indicate which party was to blame.

Array There was a man who sued himself. Apparantly, the deal was that the court would give him an ammount of money, which he would then give back after an ammount of time. I think he sued himself for being a negligent father or something like that. Anyways, he lost (and won?). -

Array i read in a paper that a woman had some barbed wire around a fence that surounded her garden. she was ordered to take it down by the council 'just in case a burglar hurts himself on it'. Probably not true, but it is similar to what really goes on. Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee, and I'll forgive Thy great big joke on me. Similar Threads -
