| I used to play Magic quite a bit, though that was 5 or 6 years ago. I still have my cards back at home. I play a fair amount of computer/xbox games (namely Counterstrike and Halo), so I suppose that would make me a gamer, though perhaps not the kind you are looking for.

| i'm a camp counselor at a day camp.
therfor, i'm paid to run RPGs and play magic.
however, i'm not terribly into either, i don't have the money to spend on magic cards, so while i have a dependable deck, it rarely works against good players.... : ) |

| hard core Hey guys!
I've actually been a professional in the game industry since about 1992 or so.
If it's an online game, I probably have an account or a character. Email me if you want to meet sometime for a match or some adventuring : )

| The creator of Magic The Gathering used to fence for Salle Auriol (Portland) and then UPenn in the varsity team. Doesn't fence no more...

| Women can't fence? Women don't game?
Wrong on both counts here. I'm anti-social so I don't do any pen and paper, or card game gaming, but I do like computer RPGs. I'm currently immersed in, and nearly finished--I'm not sure if I'm happy or not about that-- with a game called Divine Divinity. I know the name sounds incredibly lame, but it's actually a really fun game. Various computer gaming sites and game magazines have said good things about it and I would encourage you to believe them. Plus, since it didn't sell as well as it deserved to, it may be in the bargain bin.
Right now I am jones'in to the point of developing a twitch for
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Rift Runner (the sequel to Divine Divinity, or at least it takes place in the same world(s) )
Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Accademy (I've always wanted to be a Jedi Knight. I'd have preferred the Old Republic era, but good enough)
I know you're all asking "What about Morrowind"? The truth is I'd love to play it and all it's expansions, but my computer isn't up to the speed that would be required to make it run any at anything resembling a semi-acceptable: speed. I can justify having the computer because I'm a student and a struggling writer--the fact that it also plays games and surfs the net are bonuses, or so I tell everyone--so I can justify having one, but I can't justify the latest model if the old one still works well enough to perform its primary functions.
Here's some nostalgia for those of us who remember the 80's. I actually kept and ocasionally played my old Atari 2600 until a few years ago. Pitfall, Stampede and Pac Man were the bomb! I finally parted with it by donating it to a thrift store (for free), then found out immediately afterward that they had become semi-collector's items Somehow, it figures.
Anyway, my club contains several computer geek/programmer types. They go in more for massively multi-player strategic, or first person shooters. Frequently discussions around the club deteriorate into planning their next LAN session, or everyone's exploits on War/StarCraft, or Diablo. So, there are definitely an abundance of fencing gamers here. I also have a friend who plays sim games (RollerCoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon etc.) and there's the guy who's on a mission to dominate internet backgammon on the MSN games site ( I seem to hear quite a few backgammon war stories too) if that counts.
Edit: I forgot to say I'm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most club members are either from Salt Lake, or its suburbs too, or from the Provo/Orem area (abt 1 hr -30 mins from here depending on traffic)
Edited again for brain turning off at a few points.

Dan | Cool. I wonder if he's interested in fencing some Div IIs and such. Haven't seen him in over 10 years. Never had the chance to fence him when I was a Penn then.

| My son is big into Magic and into Games Workshop. He has Fantasy and Gothic armies. His room is a frightening thing to behold. There are dragon heads, fantasy creature skulls, and medieval weapons hanging on the walls.
Once, when he asked me to get his lame out of the closet, a long wooden object fell from the top shelf and hissed at me. Turned out to be a rain stick. |

| hissss lol Remise. That's pretty funny about the rainstick. At least a box of old lead miniatures didn't land on your head. I've had that happen to me before.
Side note: I'd be tempted to put a counterstrike or an Unreal Tournament (classic) server online if enough of you gamer geeks were interested in playing sometime. Be warned though, I am an evil sniper type person.
hehe

| Man...what haven't I played?
I got into Magic the Gathering on about day 2...my collection of Alphas is pretty thorough
I used to be pretty heavy into AD&D, Robotech, Rifts...but my big obsession is Battletech from FASA/Wizkids/Fanpro.
Wizkids was founded by one of the FASA founders, Jordan Weisman. He bought the rights to Battletech when FASA went under and created the Mechwarrior game off of that system. A bunch of Battletech players got together and convinced Weisman to lease the rights for the original system to Fanpro, a German company which published the German-language edition of Battletech. The Mechwarrior series of computer games is based off of the now-called Classic Battletech.
We're currently about to host the second annual Martial Olympiad, a Battletech World-wide championship game. A friend of mine won the inaugural games, and I ended up about 17th overall. Needless to say, my Battletech ranking is considerably higher than my fencing.....
You can find out more about Battletech at www.classicbattletech.com |

| Many years ago I use to play a lot of RPG. Now, it's just computer gaming and not very often with that. If there's going to be some kind of online gaming with the fencing.net people then that sounds like something I would like to do. |
