    Holes in jacket...

So, my Triplette lame has made mincemeat out of its corresponding jacket sleeves, what can I do about it? Can I just sew it up and act like nothing happened? Seems like some places might have some problems with holes in my sleeves and such...

I have the same problems with my German vests.

I've done the patches, white tape and ignored the problem (I'm still waiting for the gum for the nicotine high -- wait, I'm digressing).

Lately, I had the BEST luck. One of the junior fencer's moms in my club is great with the sewing machine and she replaced the cotton part of the sleeves (yup both sleeves, I wasn't lying about ignoring the problem) and the zipper (with a HEAVY duty zipper -- not like the whimpy zippers that comes with the jacket) for $40!

Good luck! Maybe you could ask around and see if someone is nice enough to do that for you. If you take it to a professional tailor, it would cost a whole lot more.

So is it legal to just sew up the hole and patch it up with some other cloth? That seems like something I can do myself, but I want to know if its legal or not?
