| Regardless of whether you are shameless to wear one or not, you want to know that it is going to fit you well. Buying a separate jacket and pants allow some flexibility in how the jacket and knickers fit. Me, I have a large torso but am short so the unitard wouldn't do well for me. |

| Triplette Unitard Thank you for your response Three Hundred-Fifty-Five.If I decide to purchase a unitard I will definitely be travelling to Triplette's store in North Carolina where they will take my measurements and tailor the uniform to my dimensions(medium-height,slender build)so it will fit properly. If anyone else has experience wearing the Triplette unitard I would definitely appreciate your opinion. |

| Well . . . I actually had one once. It looked cool, though with a sabre lame on nobody knew I had one. However, going to the bathroom was an ordeal difficult to describe, because once it got a little damp with sweat it was unreal getting it on and off in a tiny bathroom stall.
It fit very nicely, and I liked it, but I didn't replace because of the bathroom problem.
Oh, yeah, I hope they have fixed the fabric; in the one I had, you could tell whether I was wearing bikini or boy-cut panties, what color they were, and whether they were striped or otherwise patterned. That may not be a consideration considering your forum name . Females should be aware it makes your butt look humongous if you have any butt at all.

| I have always thought unitards looked a little... dorky.
Though I never saw Peach in hers. And dorky is in the eye of the beholder.
Everyone thinks a fencing jacket is a bit dorky when they start, but after the first week it's a normal thing, and after a few months you actually start thinking some people look cool in them. So maybe if I had more exposure to people in unitards I would think they were OK.
I hope tantric will post a picture if she gets herself a custom unitard. |

| I have always thought that a jacket and knickers are dorky looking myself, but a lame over it makes it all come together in a nice way. Uniforms looks so much better with a foil lame!
So everyone fence foil! Ole!

| I'm terribly sorry to disappoint you PicoJeff, but I'm a man,and quite proud to be one in fact.I should have put my name and gender in my profile, but for some reason I overlooked those details.I apologize for any confusion that might have caused, however I did get quite a laugh from your post PicoJeff. BTW Peach, your inference from my forum name was quite correct, so visible tightie whities will most definitely not be an issue in my case, and I highly encourage you or anyone else to consider wearing thongs as well, especially under a white fencing uniform. Oh,and guys, don't be afraid to wear them as well,my girlfriend loves it,and yours probably will to. |

| A. having seen a unitard I find them very bad looking and laughable.
B. don't you think we should keep fencing about fencing not about sex; like everything else.
C perhaps the thong discussion belongs in the watercooler

| i don't need a unitard to have that problem- my knickers are, apparently, see-through. at least, that's what the guys from my club tell me.
*shrug*
it's not me that's distracted during the day.... maybe see-through knickers would be an asset in a mixed tournament?
hrm. interesting.
sex is what sells things... who wants to separate sex from fencing entirely?
that said, the thong bit probably should be in the watercooler section. |

| Wait, let me break out of my lotus notebook and say that, I know someone who has one, it's great, I see nothing more dorky about a unitard than the pants/jacket thing. It's the same thing, it looks very comfortable besides; and I want one for epee; total freedom, totally seamless [as they say], and the underwear thing is something I can't see as being a problem, unless Mr. Thong has a suggestion that escapes the rest of us.? | Teletubby. Oompaloompa. These are images that come to mind when I see these uniforms. I guess you could get one, paint it purple, and enter in the swordmasterseries as the fencing Barney.
I had a team mate at summer nationals who wore a Triplette unitard. After two days of fencing and having to make sure she was wearing undies of a solid color, she forked over the cash for a jacket and pants.
I always wondered how folks went to the restroom with that thing on. Triplette should have been considerate enough to put a trap door in them!

| It was certainly not my intention when starting this thread to discuss underwear choices,I was simply responding to a problem Peach and many fencers face regarding see-thru fencing uniforms,by suggesting that they consider wearing thong underwear, thus making the whole problem a non-issue.I did not mention sex in my post, and I am offended that WestCoastSabre would put an equals sign between an article of clothing and sex.The only person implying any connection between what I wrote in my post and something even remotely sexual is you WestCoastSabre. An article of clothing=An article of clothing, nothing more and nothing less, everything else is just in your head.I hope, now that my rant is finished, that we can return to the main subject of this thread.Thank You. |

| Legal for Competition? I was wondering what the ruling was for the unitard in competition. the rules specificly state M.25 (4) Jacket. At all weapons, for men and women, the lower edge of the jacket must overlap the knickers by at least 10 cm when the fencer is in the on-guard position (cf. m.28, m.34).
The jacket must include a lining making a double thickness of material . . . .
Food for thought.

| I'm thinking it's legal because the weapon can't really slip in under the jacket...or thought of another way, the overlap is infinite (for all intents and purposes). |
