Confessions of a fringe athlete eyeing the big 'O'

HAVE you ever been stranded in a foreign land flying the Singapore flag, left in the lurch with no passport, no embassy to turn to and no compatriots to lean on? That happened to me last March.

US Fencers aren't the only ones that spend their own dough to compete...

Craig,

Since this involves one of our own, and one part-time, I've fwd this to the BCFA web-master to be posted.

This is in character for Laurie.

If you have not heard, when he was much younger, in 1988, in the final match of the World cadets, he hit the side of the piste (or some other non-valid part) unbeknowst to the ref who was going to award the hit in favour of Laurie thus giving him the WC.

But Laurie being who he is, corrected the ref and with the agreement of the hit was cancelled.

At the end Laurie won the hit again this time fair & square.
