    Re: Tanked...

We're still waiting news how it went. May be premature to say if it tanked or not.

If it did tank, then this sucks for us all. It would be a setback to the growth of fencing, and certainly a professional league. It might be years or decades before this could be tried again. Or not.

Perhaps it needs to be tried by somebody with a less, ahm...intriguing track record.

I don't think the underwhelming response to the Swordmaster dooms the idea in any way, although I also don't foresee a pro tour happening any time soon.

Actually, oh barrell of positive thought.....there were people there at 1 o'clock for the final 8. Apparently, YOU were in the wrong place.

It did not tank, it actually went off without a hitch. Winner (Arne Backes from Maryland) walked away $1000 richer. We all had a good time, and plan do have the event, as scheduled again in November.

    Thanks-
    K

Thanks K. Could you go ahead and post the full results?

Just a comment - If you had (at least) one person who could not find the event that was actively looking for it, then perhaps things could be made clearer on the swordmasters site as well as on other informational postings so that you don't have that problem in the future.

RE: Future of "professional" fencing. Walter - There are other events in the US that give out a cash prize to the winners. (Duel in the Desert comes to mind.) Even if all of these events succeed, it will take several years for a real pro/am circuit to come together.

    Cheers,
    Craig
